Well wishes to US-based eventing trainer Eric Dierks who was injured last week while working with a young horse. Eric and his wife Trayce Doubek-Dierks own the beautiful Renovatio Farm, just a stone's throw from the Tryon International Equestrian Center, home of the upcoming World Equestrian Games 2018.
Polo player and UNESCO goodwill ambassador and president of the Hatian Federation of Polo, Claude Alix-Bertrand, is enjoying the team's matches in Australia.
Polo Life, the excellent memoir by Adam Snow and Shelly Onderdonk was awarded the Equus Literary award for non-fiction recently. These two have truly lived some amazing polo adventures and this book makes a great Christmas gift.
In other polo related books, we're also quite fond of Amy Penn's Diosa.
Tareq Salahi and his lovely spouse Lisa Spoden cruising the Atlantic from Venice to Miami on the spectacular MSC Seaside. Once upon a time, Tareq led wine classes aboard several cruise ships and once gave me a chart of his own invention that made the mysteries of wine quite clear.
Our deepest condolences to the family of Christian Kennedy, a promising eventer who was killed in an auto crash just after Thanksgiving. A life well lived, but all too brief. We were also saddened to hear of the demise of Kaytlyn Jornayvaz, whose father Bob Jornayvaz is the patron of Cambiaso's Valiente polo team. May their families be given the strength and resolve to sustain their terrible loss.
December polo continues at the historic Lahore Polo Club, which is our ancestral club and the home of so many of Pakistan's great international players. Some excellent photos of our father-in-law, the late Colonel Nasarullah Khan, adorn the clubhouse there. It's a wonderful club in the true heart of international polo.
Soon it will be time for snow polo in Aspen and Switzerland, to say nothing of New Year's in Careyes and fun, fun everywhere.
