Forget Starbucks. Here are five local coffee shops to savor during the deluge.
1. Open Road Coffee Roasters,
915 W Mills St., Columbus, North Carolina 28722
Okay, so Open Road used to be a bank. Now its home to some of the best coffee and pastries in the Upstate. They even have a drive-thru. Starbucks be damned.
2. coffee underground
1 E. Coffee St.
Greenville, SC 29601
The hipster coffee stop in downtown Greenville, with one of the best vibes (and some of the best food) in the city. They open early, stay open late, do their own roasting, and serve breakfast all day. Perfect for when your nerves are shot contemplating the never-ending endurance debacle.
3. Carolina Moon Coffee Café & Unique Gifts
2992 Memorial Highway
Lake Lure, NC 28746
Carolina Moon is famous for their coffee cake. You can even order one online if you've decided to abandon equestrian sports for eating.
4. Tryon Coffeehouse Co-op
62 A N Trade St Tryon, North Carolina 28782
Comfy chairs, excellent lattes, and a no-nonsense cup of coffee make this a hometown favorite. Their food truck even features fried Oreos (don't ask).
5. Buck N' Brew Coffee Shop
18981 Asheville Highway
Campobello, South Carolina
I mean, how can you resist?
