DOUBLE
HAPPINESS
If the world is a polo player’s
oyster, then China is the newly emerging pearl, with two
premium clubs focusing on international play and the
upcoming Summer Olympics set for Beijing in 2008. Here’s a
look at new facilities, upcoming tournaments, and how you
can make your own China connection.
NINE DRAGON HILLS POLO CLUB
A membership to this club might well be the hottest
membership in China at the moment, as the Westin builds a 5
star luxury destination resort on the sea at Nine Dragon
Hills and the club prepares to launch an international polo
tournament October 19th & 20th.
The Estate itself offers a 27 hole golf course, luxury
marina, and countless lifestyle amenities that are quickly
making the area the “Venice of the East.”
Under the management Nine Dragon Hills Polo Club President
Steve Wyatt, the club boasts a majority of horses bred and
trained at the Meadow Brook Polo Club in Australia. The club
also offers a variety of mounts for activities ranging from
cross-country eventing to lessons for beginners. Members may
also stable their own horses at the club.
Wyatt is an experienced polo manager, former president of
the Meadow Brook Polo Club in Queensland, as well as an
active member of the Singapore Polo Club.
